A wager race ranks players by how much they wager over a window, a raffle draws winners at random (often with tickets earned by wagering), and a tournament ranks by a score such as biggest multiplier or points on set games — so they reward volume, luck, and game-specific skill respectively.

The distinction changes who wins and how. In a wager race, the leaderboard is pure turnover, so high-rollers dominate the top unless the pool pays deep. A raffle levels that somewhat — every ticket has a chance regardless of size — but it’s luck, and more wagering just buys more tickets. A tournament rewards outcomes on specific games (a top win multiplier, say), which can favour skill or variance over raw volume. None of these is “better” in the abstract; what matters is how many places pay and whether the prize is cash or bonus.
